What to do at roaring camp

Hi guys,

Do you like the redwoods? Do you like the beach? Would you like to go on an easy hike? Ok so basically this place would be perfect for you. The place I’m referring to Roaring Camp in Felton, CA.

My boyfriend and I plus some friends made our way to the beautiful redwoods this past weekend and I was surprised they didn’t know about this place, so I thought to myself how many more are out there that live near the area that have no idea? I almost felt like it was my personal duty to blog about it.

QUICK BACKSTORY

The area’s first railroad, Santa Cruz & Felton began carrying tourist to the Big Trees and the beach in 1875.

WHAT TO DO WHILE YOU’RE THERE

You can either go straight to Roaring Camp and park there for $10.00 (or find free parking around the corner) or park at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk and take the train up there. That’s the cool part, you can take a nice little train ride and catch some beautiful scenery.

Prices for Santa Cruz Beach Train 3 hr round trip

Adults (13 & over) $31.00

Kids (2-12) $26.00

Under 2 FREE

So anyways while you’re there you can go panning for gold which is pretty fun, walk and lay under the trees enjoying the music in the background.

But anyway, it’s just beautiful there, plenty of activities for kids and one of my favorite things…the Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park is right there!! 1,750 acres filled with spectacular views that just take your breath away. You literally can breathe better. There are over 15 miles of hiking trails, some which lead to small isolated sandy beaches on the San Lorenzo River and others with overlooking the Santa Cruz mountains, with peeks at Monterey Bay.

I love it because you can take one trail that’s a little more difficult or stay on a more moderate one. I see people wearing jeans and shorts. Not everyone goes in workout gear so it’s all about what you want to get out of it.

So if you’re in the area I would say just go and experience it yourself. I doubt you’ll regret it.

As always thank you for reading. I appreciate you and your time.

xx
