What to do first when buying a house

Hi guys,

When you think about buying a house, what is your first thought? What do you do? A lot of buyers used to go directly to a Real Estate Agent first and although that’s still the case, buyers are starting to get their finances in order before they reach out to an Agent.

You want to check your financing immediately to make sure you can afford the homes you’re looking at in general. Why look at Chanel all day when you can’t afford it. It’s going into Nordstrom getting excited to shop come to realize Nordstrom Rack is more in your price range. Don’t feel bad, Nordstrom Rack has lots of good stuff for half off. But lastly, you don’t go shopping without looking at your bank, first right? You want to make sure the money is there.

According to a new survey of 1,000 recent buyers, 74% sought financing first in their home buying journey before looking at homes. For first time home buyers, that percentage jumps to 85%. This is definitely a shift from 10 years ago.

The approach has changed and that’s good because like I said you don’t want to waste your time looking at things you may not be able to afford.

Don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong if you go to your REALTOR® asking wtf do I do and how do I start, that’s music to my ears. I love to help and if you have no clue nobody including myself will judge. This is the biggest purchase in your life, you’re not going to know it all especially if you’ve never been involved in a Real Estate transaction.

You need confidence

Knowing how much you can afford is aka confidence. Much better to shop knowing you got the $$ plus it gives you an advantage in a tight market. Yes, there might be the occasional credit stuff that delays your loan. If you need to improve your credit, you need to read this blog, click link below

It won’t be easy though

Even if you have your finances in line, finding your home in a tight market is hard work. Might cause anxiety but you shouldn’t give up. Like I tell all my buyers, your home will come. Kick that bad habit of feeling the world is crumbling and look at things in a positive light, that home wasn’t for you.

Overall, the home buying process is different for everyone. Not one transaction is the same, they all vary. BUT you shouldn’t fear it, if you’re curious to give me a call I can at least help you and guide you to get on the right track, so you can purchase in 6-12 months.

As always thank you for reading I appreciate you and your time

xx
